HARVEST OF THORNS- CLASSIC A PLAY  - BY SHIMMER CHINODYA

Set in 1960s Rhodesia, the novel follows Benjamin Tichafa, a young man torn between his conservative religious upbringing and the rising tide of black nationalist movements. After being provoked into leaving his boarding school, Benjamin travels to Mozambique to join the freedom fighters in a bitter civil war of liberation. He returns to a newly independent Zimbabwe as a hardened man, only to struggle with the realization that little has changed within his own family and society. Ultimately, the story explores his search for the true meaning of freedom amidst the scars left behind by war.
